The Annual Green Fair, organised by The Green Brigade Club, was held on October 30, 2024. This year’s theme - ‘Harmony with Nature’, aimed to empower students to adopt a sustainable mindset. Students shared their ideas through poems, aligned with our theme ‘Harmony with Nature’ and talked about the significance of best out of waste, displayed their creative innovations and self-grown planters. A pledge board was also displayed for students and teachers to write their pledges to safeguard the environment.
Seven NGOs were invited to sell their sustainable products including Ek Umeed Day Care Centre for Special Children, Cheshire Home India, New Delhi Nature Society, VIDYA, MARGAM, Tamana Special School and Harmonious Children Rehabilitation Association.
A neem sapling was planted by the Principal, Ms. Vibha Khosla and the Headmistress, Ms. Geeta Rawat to commemorate the day. The Green Brigade Club promised to look after this young sapling.
An installation depicting deforestation and destruction on one end, contrasted with nature and life, in the form of a forest made with cardboard animals, repurposed decoration following the 5 R’s (reduce, reuse, recycle, refuse, repurpose).
An informative session on Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) was conducted for the students of Grades IX to XII on September 23 and 30, 2024 by the Indian Spinal Injuries Hospital. The session aimed to educate students on the importance of CPR, equipping them with the knowledge and basic skills to respond effectively in emergency situations.
The session began with an engaging presentation and a MCQ to test general awareness of students about the topic. They were explained about the various steps in the Basic Life Support to be taken while someone is unconscious/gasping for air/ having a heart attack.
This was followed by a detailed demonstration of the CPR technique, including the correct hand positioning, chest compressions, and rescue breaths.
On September 27, 2024, a post-school session on Hydro Rockets was organized for club members in collaboration with SPACE India. During the session, SPACE educators introduced students to the fundamental structure of a rocket, explaining key components such as the nose cone, payload, storage, and nozzle. They also provided a scientific overview of rocket launches to ignite students' enthusiasm for physics.
The highlight of the session was a hands-on demonstration where students learned how to construct a rocket and followed the procedures for its launch. Under the guidance of SPACE India specialists, students excitedly attempted to launch their rockets to the highest possible altitudes.
The Career Fair for International Universities held on September 27, 2024 at Modern School, Vasant Vihar provided an exceptional opportunity for students of Grades IX to XII to interact directly with representatives from prestigious global universities and gain insights into various academic pathways and career opportunities.
A total of 47 universities participated in the fair, offering a diverse range of educational prospects from across the world. Among the top universities present were University College London, University of Sydney, University of Manchester, University of St. Andrews, University of Alberta, and University of Bristol and many more. Students and parents engaged in one-on-one discussions with university representatives, exploring courses, admissions processes, scholarships, and campus life, making the event both informative and interactive.
The Career Fair aimed to broaden students' perspectives on higher education options abroad and assist them in making informed decisions about their future. Feedback from students and parents was overwhelmingly positive, with many expressing appreciation for the chance to meet university representatives in person and ask questions tailored to their personal goals.
The event fostered a valuable exchange of knowledge and guidance, contributing significantly to the academic and career planning of the students.
The Pre-primary section of Modern School, Vasant Vihar organised an engaging and educational exhibition, Animalia – Beyond the zoo on September 21, 2024.
Students of each class decorated their classroom with various categories of animals like pet , wild , farm and water animals.
Children participated with great enthusiasm. The objective was to make children aware of different types of animals and their habitat in a playful way. Parents were highly appreciative of the exhibition and the efforts done by teachers as well as the school.
Congratulations to Ms. Tania Sachdev on her remarkable achievement! As a proud alumnus of Modern School, Vasant Vihar, Class of 2004, Tania has made her mark by being part of the Indian Women’s Squad that clinched the top spot at the 45th FIDE Chess Olympiad in Budapest, Hungary, from September 10 to 23, 2024.
Alongside her talented teammates—Harika Dronavalli, Vantika Agrawal, Vaishali Rameshbabu, and Divya Deshmukh—Tania played a pivotal role in defeating Azerbaijan in the final round, leading the team to victory and securing the championship title. This achievement is a testament to her dedication and skill in chess. We celebrate her success and the inspiring example she sets for aspiring chess players everywhere!
The celebration of Teachers’ Day at Modern School, Vasant Vihar, this year was indeed a memorable one. In a heartfelt gesture of gratitude to our dedicated staff for their invaluable contributions, passion, and tireless efforts in shaping generations of students, a special get-together was organized on September 5, 2024, in collaboration with the school’s PTA body.
The event was graced by both current and superannuated staff members, whose presence infused the day with a unique blend of warmth and wisdom. Their stories took us on a nostalgic journey down the memory lane, reminding everyone of the school’s rich legacy of teaching and learning—one that has left an indelible mark on countless lives.
